Barclaycard debt

I owe around £1300 on my Barclaycard, I can't afford to make the minimum monthly payments and with late payment fees and interest whatever I do pay isn't going to clear it. I was thinking of getting another card and doing a balance transfer but I really think my credit is ruined now so I wouldn't get accepted.

What would be the best thing to do?

Don't want to be unkind, but why would/should Barclaycard agree to a payment plan when your household has enough money to cover the payments?

You need to discuss not just this debt but your whole financial setup with your DP.

My bill is £14.00 a month for the £600 I owe.

Thats 0% though.

I agree the bigger issue is your partner is financially controlling.

OldMcdonalad · 14/04/2017 18:39

So I've paid over the minimum this month, and now I've been charged £29 interest why would that be when I defiantly paid over the minimum?

19lottie82 · 14/04/2017 18:56

Paying the minimum doesn't mean you don't have to pay interest, unless your card is 0%, but even if it is, they usually remove this if you miss a payment or it's late.

The only time you don't have to pay interest is if you pay off the balance in full each month .

Your DP sounds like a dick.

sorry

redandwhite1 · 14/04/2017 21:40

I have a barclaycard and the minimum payment is 2.25% of the balance so at £1300 I would expect to only be paying £30?

Are you sure it's £150?

OldMcdonalad · 14/04/2017 22:39

Yes, and I've made a payment over the minimum and now my next payment is £40 something

AdoraBell · 18/04/2017 23:27

I agree, that minimum payment sounds very high for the balance owed. Is it a joint credit card? Does your DP also have a card on the account? I'm wondering if the balance is higher than you realise.

Also, he sounds a total arse.
