Reclaiming Bankcharges with Abbey.
Does anyone know the answers to the following
1] Im sending my 1st letter requesting a fully comprehensive list of all past charges, Where do i send this to - the add on my statment (PO Box add in London) or my local branch?
2] Can they / would they close my account or take away my o/d if i do nothing after i have found out how much they owe me? (im only going to claim if its more than my overdraft)

Send your letter to:

Data protection manager
Data protection team
Regulatory compliance
Abbey house
201 Graftons gate east
Milton keynes
MK9 1AN

I have heard that sometimes they do cancel accounts and it is advisable to open a "parachute" account, just incase, but apparently it's very unlikely they would do so.

Hth.

Thank you Bubbaloo.
Do you think they would close my account if im only asking how much?
I know they have done when you ask for it back but im only asking how much?

I reclaimed around £2,000 from Abbey. Luckily I had all my statements so didn't have to go through the DP rigmarole. It did go as far as me submitting a claim to the small claims court though.

Have you seen the consumer action website?

here's my story on their forum .

They have loads of templates and advice, and people who can help with all sorts of queries.

The moneysavingexpert website is also v good I believe.

Although I chose to close my account, they didn't at any point indicate that they were going to ask me to. I don't think they're one of the banks that do this

Thank you emsiewill
Im sure the amount is about the same as my overdraft.
Im just worried as i cant afford to pay my o/d if they turn round and close my account.
