jury service - shocked at the oath

just looking at the info I've got prior to doing jury service next month. apparently I have to "solemnly, sincerely and truly declare and affirm that I will...give a true verdict according to the evidence". sorry but WTF is a "true" verdict? from the mouths of lawyers too!

a true verdict as in one that is suggested by the evidence rather than the one you decided on when you first clapped eyes on the suspect surely? I think it means true as in honest rather than true as in gospel.

funny you have to swear solemnly, sincerely and truly though. I think they should add a "and cross my heart and hope to die" to the end.
