Hi!
In the U.K. is there any kind of government pay for the self employed or freelance? We've got a little newborn and a friend just told us my husband should get some money as her husband is getting £138 PW but my husband is a freelance contractor PAYG so we don't think we'd qualify? Boo!!
Also is there anything for a Mum who's already at home looking after child number 1?
Thanks Hmm

As a SAHM you are not losing a salary by being on maternity leave so you don't have anything to claim for Confused

Paternity pay is only available to fathers in employment not freelance contractors.

No, there isn't. But he should be benefitting from lower taxes due to claiming expenses against his income, so swings and roundabouts.

No, maternity and paternity pay is for employees.

Great help thank you :)
Totally different in Oz (where we've just moved back from) where second time Mums do get a payment and freelancing partners do get a payment when they take a couple of weeks off to help when a baby is born.
Thanks all for replying!
