Joint claim for housing benefit

If you make a joint claim for housing benefit and one partner dies, will they just transfer it to the single name or does the remaining partner have to reapply?

Asking for a friend.

I think you have to make a fresh claim for everything. Better sooner than later to avoid overpayments.

So sorry to your friend, it's hard enough when someone dies flowers]

Thank you. I had a feeling that might be the case.

I just can't find any online info to confirm it.

We will make sure she has someone supporting her through it.
