Can someone advise me where I stand re: catalogue return please.

I ordered some very nice boots from a catalogue on my account (also came with a very nice price tag). After wearing them twice they broke so phoned up and they said they would replace them and to send the old pair back when the new ones were delivered.
I did this, new ones are fine but they still haven't credited my account for the returned pair, I phoned at the end of Nov and they said to send a copy of the proof of return which I did and they still haven't credited my account.
I need to phone them again but I've been paying interest on the ?90 for over 4 mths now, someone mentioned that as I have returned them it is legally their responsibility to prove I didn't otherwise they should credit my account with the purchase price and the interest.
I'm not good at shouting at people on the phone to make them do something so wanted to know where I stand, can anyone help please?

If you have proof of return they need to issue you with a refund on the damaged pair, and refund the interest incurred.

I am no good on the phone, so I recommend you write a strongly worded but polite letter to them!

I would of thought it would of been return or replace. If they sent you a new pair of boots i wouldnt of though you would have got a refund as well.
Im probably wrong though!

Do you mean you were also charged ofr the second pair but not refunded the faulty ones ? I would write to the Customer Services manager or someone more senior with the proof of return, dates of calls etc and give them 7 days to refund the cost plus interest or you will take legal advice to recover it.

yes have you been charged for 2 pairs or just one?

SillyBillyBee · 30/01/2007 19:14

Yes sorry I didn't explain properly, they have charged me for both pairs of them. Thanks for the advice, I think I will phone tomorrow and be firm but nice and if that doesn't work will sent a slightly stronger letter. Didn't get chance to sort it today but it is on the list for tomorrow.
