WHAT DO YOU DO WHEN YOU LOSE YOUR PASSPORT?

I lost mine 7 years ago - i'm pretty sure it went in the bin with a carrier bag after going to the offy but at the time i was having a rough time and didn't do anything about it (was suffering very severe PND and didnt think i would be needing it anytime soon) as it happens i haven't needed one for the past 7 years. So what do i do now? I've left it this long because to start with I didn't really care enough to do anything about it, it was very low on my list of priorities if im honest. Then i was scared i would get into trouble, now i'm thinking i might like a passport in the next couple of years and i'm wondering what I should do?

TIA

You apply for a new one saying the old one is lost IIRC.
