Joint to single tax credits

Morning has anyone gone from joint to single tax credits this year or last. I know they say 3 weeks has anyone done there's I just want a rough time how long yours took. I don't get paid from work till the end of the month and only did mine last week over the phone. Not sure how long I will be without money. Thanks for reading

I changed my claim 2 weeks ago and called today. They said all looks fine and they're doing final checks and will be done within 3 weeks.

Thanks rainbows I'm worried about checks as he has moved out for 8 weeks till I get my place so im here wit the children. The bills and mortgage are all in his name but we don't have a joint account. Only time will tell

I've still had nothing. They said it takes 3 weeks - it will have been 3 weeks this coming Wednesday. I called today and asked what was going on - the woman then said she needed to transfer me to "e-comp" or whatever she said - so they transferred me over and the guy said he doesn't know why the lady transferred me and can see the claim is still being processed but waiting for a payment schedule - I said how long will this take? He said to chase it Wednesday so it's not looking good. Any one went from a joint to single claim recently ? How long did it take?

Can someone please help or let me know if they've been in a similar scenario. So me and my partner split 27th May - I let TC's know 1st June who said it will take 3 weeks to process. I called 2 weeks ago and the person said all looking ok but to wait until the 3 week deadline. I called Monday and the woman transferred me to the compliance team, the guy who answered said he doesn't know why she put me through but said he can see they're just waiting for payment schedule to be generated and dno how long it will be an to chase on Wednesday (today) when it's officially been 3 weeks. Called today for the guy to read through the notes, put me on hold for 5 mins to speak to a colleague, to then say it's with the compliance team and has no idea how long it's going to be. He said look out for a phone call maybe - basically trying to get me off the phone. So I've been without money for 4+ weeks and have nursery to pay and they dno how long I'll be waiting. They had no answers. Me and my X have a mortgage on the home I live in so we have a financial connection and he's gone back to his moms till he finds somewhere else to rent. Is this why it's with compliance ? Bloody nightmare

Tax credits are useless. They sent me a letter saying they believe my ex was living with me. He wasn't even in the country let alone living with me.
It was because he was still on the council tax (council wouldn't take him off till they received an email from him confirming he was no longer living at the address... what kind of crap is that?!) so therefore it looked like he was still here.

The investigation got closed soon as I said he wasn't even in the country but the guy said to me ''you haven't shown me any evidence he's not in the country'' bloody jokers!! How's about check his passport.

I gave up with them, stopped claiming tax credits completely and have been better off not having to deal with the hassle.

Can you not take someone off the council tax if they own the house with you? I called my local council who took him off and asked for a forwarding address. The council haven't sent me and amended bill though despite it being 3 weeks ago.. I thought council would automatically update the record ?

Ps. Would be great to hear your stories and out comes. Wait for a phone call - what a joke.

You should be able to take them off the council tax if they're not living at the address with you. Some councils will take forever to sort it out though, like mine.

I phoned today and they said it is partially captured what ever that means

Can I come in with a question here please (rather than start my own thread)

I haven't claimed CTC before, but I am separating from my husband and I'll be eligible for them on my own salary (and will need them!) At what stage can I start claiming - from what you say above about living at the same address I assume I can't claim until we have moved out of our joint house?

Also, do they backdate your claims seeing as it appears to take them weeks to process?

Anybody have any updates? Mine has been with the "Specialist team" for ages now. I put the claim in 1st June so it's been over 4 weeks now. I ring and all they say is they don't know how long as with specialist team.

Nvm - called them and it's sorted. Back payment due Monday xx took 4 weeks to sort x

I changed mine last year. Just rang them and told them we had split (we had an existing claim that paid about £10 a week previously and it went up by a lot).

Mine came through in about 3 weeks, I got the payment into my bank first before I actually got the letter through, and it was back-dated to the day I made the claim.

My reward has now been issued just waiting for payment schedule so I hope I get a payment next week

Help needed myself and my oh are deciding to separate as we no longer get on .
We've tried to make things work for the sake of the children but , failed miserably .
Need some advice when to inform tax credits and also the fact we have a mortgage but , jointly .
He has agreed to help the mortgage as he will be living with his mum .
Where does that put me with the tax credits as technically he's still on it with me but , doesn't live with me .
Any help would be great as I'm worried obviously money wise
