Income support keep asking for proof of savings?

Anyone else had this issue? I have savings just slightly above the lower limit (6k) and have always declared my finances, but in the past few months I have had 2 letters requesting my bank statements/saving accounts etc.

Feeling fed up as it's a faff to request and then send off all this information. The last time I did it - about 12 weeks ago, they failed to return all of my documents, and I have to write to my savings acc holder to request a new savings statement as I only get one per year. My benefits were adjusted accordingly, so I'm not sure of the need to do it all over again.

What would happen if I ignored this letter?

I would spend a bit to get the limit just under £6000, if I were you.
