DP and I are planning on privately renting in a couple of months time. It is the 2 of us and DD (1) and we are trying to budget how much we will be spending on bills each month. We will be in Devon. I was hoping you could help me with an average of your monthly bills such as electric, gas, water and broadband? Thanks

Not from the south west

But I pay £110 for gas and electric
£130 for council tax (single)
£550 per month rent (social housing)
£65 car insurance
£15 car tax
£40-50 sky
£12.12 tv licence
I have a business, mobile and Childs contract which totals about £100 per month
Netflix
Life insurance etc

I bring home about £1400 a month and even with tax credits I manage to pay everything but there is barely anything left for treats etc.

I would budget £500 for bills plus rent plus food shop. X

Mr CTax is £193 per month. My oil worked out to about £70 per month, but that was just budgeting for heavy winter bills and building up a cash reserve its win, and my electricity about £65 per month.

My house is in Cornwall.

Water rates cost a fortune in Devon and Cornwall, going by what my friend in Exeter says.

You get a rebate from HMG if you are with SWW.

utilities depend on use and insulation of the property, plus what fuel it has. Oil is very cheap at the moment if that provides heat and hot water. Electricity depends on tariff which you can choose.

you can find out the council tax for the property concerned.
broadband/landline phone should be no more than £25 a month inc line rental and unlimited anytime calls, less if you don't need those.
you also need tenant insurance.

We rent in Cornwall - myself, DH and DD(2) in a 2.5-bed terrace.

Rent is £795. Council tax £117. For power (gas and electricity combined) we pay £100 per month direct debit but our account is always in credit by a good bit. Ditto for water - dd is about £60 but we're in credit there too.

Sky family package plus superfast broadband is about £75 in total, I think.

Mine are very similar to above, however.... The water bills quoted by others are massive! I am on a meter, personally am a low user but my husband likes long showers so uses my fair share too! I only pay £23 per month! This usually allows me to skip at least one month a year. I am in Hampshire, I find it shocking they can charge so much more elsewhere.
