Need to lower my gas bills...

I'm paying a staggering amount on gas every month with EDF Energy... can anyone advise if there's a cheaper gas supplier out there? I'm on a combined electricity/gas package with them and if there's a cheaper supplier who can offer the dual service that would be even better!

Also, I've heard of a website that can tell you the cheapest services available. Does anyone know anything about this?

Many thanks in advance...

f*ing hell thats a lot iwas paying £45 a month gas with british gas and £30 a month elctric with them too and i thought that was too much
we are a family of four and i am at home all day and have the heating on all day
i changed to n power and now only pay £25 a month gas and £20 electric and so far haven't had to pay any extra even though it's winter!!
we were paying quite a lot before until we had our boiler changed

LM Have you worked out how much actual gas you are using per month? If we have that figure we can probably make useful comparisons with similar size properties/families. Is your heating all gas? Cooking? Hot water? Changing suppliers may help, but there are other options too. (we found a leak after calculating the amount we were using and turning everything off to see the meter still ticking round!)

Mooshy, our bills are like that. We have 6 people in our house, incl one at uni, who in fact spends all day at home on computer etc.

When I switched to Scottish Power, the man on the phone couldn't believe it. He thought bills like that should be from a household of 8 people. Then he asked me if we have any teenagers in the house.....apparently, computers and consoles really push your bills up.

We have 3 on them all the time....

Jan, sorry for late response

We are a family of 4 living in detached house with v new and efficient combi boiler and Aga (OK, I know - it's not really surprising that gas bills are high!) I have looked on Uswitch plus compared notes with parents who live in similar size house also with Aga and have dicovered that the amount I pay isn't that ridiculous (70pcm). It's our first winter in this house so was just a bit of a shock that's all.

Thanks everyone for your replies!
