tax credits when child is in care

The long and short of it is this, my teenager who is suffering with mental health issues was arrested this week after hitting me. The bail conditions state he can't come home for three weeks and has been put into care as due to violence no family member could take him. Do I need to tell tax credits? I was told it has to be 8weeks before you have to tell child benefit. I'm just curious and also worried as my tax credits help pay my rent! All advice welcome.

You must tell child tax credits within thirty days. Really sorry you are in such an awful situation Flowers
