another ebay q re buying new goods

do you ask for a receipt? (either an original one or one fron the seller) what do you do if the thing goes wrong?

If they have the original one, then you could ask for it as long as it dont have any of there personal details on it like card details
I dont think a receipt from the seller would be any good (only if they are a shop selling on ebay)

I was under the impresison that technically any manufacturers warrenty is only valid for the original purchaser.
