As a few people know Ds is going to be out of a job at end of jan. Possibility of a job but his annual wage would be £10k. This is a bit lower than what he earns now, however would we be entitled to more financial help?

You don't have to earn a specific sum to qualify for WTC, but you have to work at least 16 hours a week. £10K puts him over the limit to receive council tax benefit or income support (I think it's in the low £8K's to qualify for those).

There's a very good site entitled to which will give you a good idea of what his income would be.

have looked on entitled to and worked out possible tax credits etc but it is saying a silly amount as worked it out compared to now and it is giving double what we get.

Hmm. In that case, the safest thing is to phone the IR tax credit helpline. They're usually pretty accurate (the website isn't ime)

Do you rent nemo? Your local council website shouold have a council tax/housing benefit calculator. Imput what hes going to be earning from now on and see if you would be entitled to any HB.
Even if its only a fiver a week, it means some college courses etc would be free of charge.
Also my council website tells you what TC you should be getting too.
