Hi everyone this is my first post so please excuse anything I do wrong :-) I need advise on clothing my children I have 5 four boys and a girlI cannot afford to clothe them after I pay rent and bills I am left with just 60 pound for food nappies etc my children literally have nothing except a couple of tops and bottoms I dont even have pjs for them I had tokeep them Iif school the ither day as ut was a no uniform day and they never had anything to wear I no it is a terrible thing to say but I feel embarrassed to take them out! My children are loved clean and well fed so please don't think they are not can anyone give advice on any grants available etc or any ideas where u can get cheap clothes many thanks xxx

I'm not having a go at you in any way at all, I just think there sounds like there's been a cock up somewhere along the lines - and given the 5 DC's I'm not surprised you've not got the energy to "fight" it. Do you have a housing officer at the council? I think it would be worth phoning today and finding out what the HB levels are for your area.

50pw is what I get as of benefits cuts this is why I am in such a mess I am please dont get tthe impression I like it on benefits I hate it! I am on a year break from studying with open university psychology :-)I have a housing officer but I don't really like him he is very patronizing but maybe I should ask for help as I am in a bad situation I am only just surviving

You should def do a benefit check on turn2us.

Is your ex husband paying maintenance? How could you have five children with him and then he goes off to an arranged marriage?

Charity shops, free cycle, talk to school - home school support workers are good at finding things out for people

Oof. Poor you, OP. Hope you are pursuing your ex for maintenance - even if for some reason he's not paying/can't pay you need to set up the claim for it through official channels.

Do go back to your housing officer even if it is hard to do so.
