I have quite a bit via Direct Line. If you work you need a capital sum that if invested at 3 - 5% would be the same as your gross salary I suppose in an ideal world plus cover for your non work services too. If you don't work then I suppose a lumop sum that yields the cost of those services you provide if you died which your partner might need to replace.

Depends on your age when you take it out, length of mortgage and whether have critical illness cover or not re the cost. I've been quoted £50 per month to pay off mortgage if I die or get a critical illness in next 22 years - I'm 42 now.

Get separate policies though, not joint.

Contact Diabetes UK. They will give you the number for their brokers Heath Lambert who broke life insurance for type 1, I think with Norwich Union. I never went through with it in the end because I got so sick of the whole process.
