Costs of moving

We want to budget ahead, the probable costs for moving 25 miles.

We have never used a removal company before, but would need to get a large company in this time.

What are the costs for moving a semi-detached house 25 miles. Does anyone know ? We will get companies in nearer the time to quote but just don't want to look like idiots when they quote us some ridiculous price ?

Also what are the prices for solicitors to sell and buy a new house now any ideas ?

We moved in June - Our removers cost us £350 to move a 3 bed house including supplying boxes etc but was only a couple of miles so did two trips with smaller van - may be more for larger one??? Was cheapest quote we could get but they did a fab job on the day.

I think soliciters worked out at about £1500 to buy and sell IIRC. Bloody expensive business moving!

In London - about £700 for removals!

We paid about £550 to move out of London by about 15 miles. 3 bed house but a lot of stuff

I paid £1,000 for removals from a 2 bed house to go a 30 mile distance, but the removers also did all the packing (this was only about £200 extra).

Stamp duty is the biggest expense - this used up ALL my life savings!

Just paid £1400 for removal to Reliable Removals in London area. This was to pack up a 3 bed maisonette inc a lot of furniture, move most of it to a storage facility in a huge truck and some to our temp accommodation a few miles away. Packing was done in 4 hours, removal next day in approx 6 hours. I was impressed. Well worth the cash.

Cost us almost £700 last move just for three blokes with a truck to move (not pack) and they took forever.

Same company charged my friend about £1200 for full pack and move in Essex area.
