Just that really, I have a euro cheque and I could send it to my brother to lodge it to my Irish bank account but don't want to if there is no need. My account is with Barclays.

i dont see why not, you can bank postal orders. otherwise phone your bank and double check.

I am pretty sure you can - but they charge you quite a high fee.

I've cashed Dollar cheques in to my account but you will get charged a fee.

Well I just asked them and they said yes they can but they charge(natch) and it can take up to 14 days, so I am going to stick it in the post and my brother will lodge it for me and in Ireland you can acess your money on the same day that the cheque goes in as they don't wait for it to clear(on the grounds that they know where to find you if the cheque bounces). Actually the cheque clearance thing over here is such a load of money making rip-off rubbish that it makes me really . In these days of electronic banking they can clear a cheque in one day, the rest of the time is just them making money(interest) on your money.
