Marriage ended and tax credit advice

My marriage of 15 years has ended, and I need to put my practical head on regarding finances.
We currently have 3 children and have a joint claim. I work part time (18.5 hours) and DH is self employed. He has gone to stay at his parents for a few days and then will be living with a friend for a while.
I was going to ring and update them tomorrow but all of the bills and joint account bank statements will be in both names.

Do I need to wait for this to all be amended? It's hard as he is on strong medication at the moment and I cat press him to get things like the bank records changed but I also need to be sensible and sort out the finances before things get in a mess.

I would call them and ask their advice on how to go forward. I would imagine you need to stop the joint claim and do a single one. But in the current climate I would follow up any advice they give with a letter confirming any discussions.
