Especially if you have a neighbour who is likely to be hostile to the building work. Cost idea would be good .

We have got our planning permission , finally , after winning our appeal to which our 'hostile' neighbour objected to .

I know that we will take advice from professionals but trying to get it straight in our own heads first.

Have to go out now but will be back later .

thanks

You need to give them written warning of work to party wall. They have 14 days to reply. Either agree or if they want they can request a surveyor to work on their behalf to ensure all work is done properly. You have to pay for their surveyor to do this. It cannot be the same surveyor as you are using.

We had to go through the party wall act because of our psycho neighbours. It ended up costing us an extra £2000.Most of that was fees but about £350 was their request for some extra work that didn't really need doing but we did it to avoid more legal wrangles.
They chose a really expensive surveyor compared to ours who was extremely pernickity about stupid details .
My advice is get in touch with a good surveyor who's dealt with party wall act a lot.
Get a copy of act from council, there is one available in plain english.
Good luck, our building work was delayed 6 months because of it,sorry to be such a killjoy ,it still
pisses me off.
And bloody neighbours moved after building work finished ffs!!!

We're not going to take any chances its been a year since we submitted planning and thansk to them we had to go to appeal .

One reason why we would like to get it sorted sooner rather than later
