child tax credits and returning to work

I've just got my child tax renewal form. I'm planning on returning to work in September.Do I tell them this now or closer to the date? I know my tax credits will stop when I return to work but will I still recieve them until then? Will my payments change until this date? I'm just worried they will stop or reduce my payments before I start work. I won't get my first wage until end of September.

Why do you think they will stop?

You have to have quite a high income for them to stop completely. Also they are calculated on whole tax year earnings so only what you'll earn sept-April. Also there is a £5000 disregard for increases in income so you will get an award based on sept-April pay minus £5k.

You have one month after you start work to tell them.
