DH was checking his bank balance on line and has seen that 2 cheques were presented from a book sent out to us a couple of weeks ago (that we never recieved) amounting to £3000. So know we have to go through the whole rigmarole (sp?) of proving it wasn't us. Just what we need after having just done the xmas shopping.

Oh, shit, COV

Hope you get it sorted v quickly.

I had someone use my Switch card a while back and the bank were v helpful and happy to credit me quickly (this was HSBC). Hope you have a similar experience.

The police are lookinginto it. They believe it to be most likely someone at the post office . Apparently it is quite common for them to be taken and sold to people to be frauduently (sp) used.

Yes - I had a chequebook stolen and two cheques were written from it, totally different people in different parts of the country, the cheques had clearly been sold on.

someone transferred 1k out of dhs barclaycard. despite notifying them 4 times over the past 3 weeks, they have taken no action.

i do sympathise. after the initial anger/shock I am just left feeling annoyed at the bank.

suzycreamcheese · 02/11/2006 18:44

i had the same happen and fortunately the bank picked up on it as it was for a large sum and called to confirm it with me (first direct). The cheque book was nicked from the post and they also noticed cheques were not in sequence.
hope this gets sorted out quickly for you, keep on at the bank.
Could you ask for cheque books in future to be collected from bank, a hassle I know but this sorted of stuff leaves me feeling ill!
