Bank account for baby

Hi all,

My son is 4 months old and we have quite alot of money for him from people from when he was born and on his christening day. We would like to put this in an account for him and then set up a monthly standing order and he can access the money when he is 18.

Can the bank account be in his name or is he too young?

Thank you! Xxx

Yes, you can get an account for your dc. Both mine have accounts in their own names. We just took our ID's and dds birth certificates. Really easy.

Yeah you can get a saver's account in his name. My son has one we out money in each week for him.

You can get a current account with a good rate of interest - check out Northern Rock.

Hiya! Yes you can - I've recently opened up a childrens account with Nationwide. It's quite a good interest rate and you are allowed to make one withdrawal a year on it if needs be (we choose this type in case we have an emergency for something our daughter might require before she is 18) without it effecting the interest rate, whatever money is in the account when they turn 18 goes to them. The account is in my daughters name and then my name is on behalf of her for it. You just need to take their birth certificate in for ID and ID for yourself. Good luck x
