I won't go into massive detail about my money situation as we'd be here all night.
Basically I'm 29 weeks pregnant, live with my partner, who works full time. I work part time (did have another part time which ended in December due to the company shutting). I'm not looking for any extra work due to being pregnant. I help towards the bills and pay for all of the food etc. In January, as it is for most, was a hard month so I was buying food literally with money I was getting from selling my clothes. I needed a clearout and ended up selling quite a lot throughout the month which bought the food shopping each week and paid towards a few bills. I got paid at the end of January and most of it has already gone, on car..house..baby.. None of which I am complaining about. I'm just trying to adjust to the money loss.
Currently I'm waiting for my income support claim to hopefully process which I should hear about at the end of this month. I'm also going on maternity in March.
This month just seems like it's going to be a very long one, with not a lot of money to get by on. I've ran out of clothes and things to sell, too.

Anyone else in a similar boat to me?

Hi - I'm 28 weeks, still working full time, as is my husband, but we're in the midst of paying off debt, saving for his corporation tax bill, and saving for my maternity leave - if you look at the debt thread on this board you'll see I'm currently managing to bring in our weekly shop in at just under £30 - less than half what I used to spend each week. January was hideously long, and I thought February would be easier, but actually there's stuff hanging over from January...so now I'm hoping March will be easier! On the plus side, everyone on this board is helpful and welcoming, even if you just come on to say you feel crap and hate having no money Grin, which most of us do at least once a week!

You can't get income support with a working partner can you? Do you mean maternity allowance?

Laska42 · 02/02/2015 19:02

Friendly support makes it easier.... come and join us on the Fantastic Frugaleers thread we are all friendly and full of good ideas to make money stretch and pay off debts..

Babyroobs- sorry my mistake. Yes maternity allowance is going through as I can't claim SMP as I don't earn enough weekly. I can't claim income support or anything else because my partner works full time, anything else I might be eligible for will be when the baby is here (benefits are so confusing to me!)

Jonty- sorry to hear your in a similar position but also feel relieved that there are people who are going through the same thing that can relate in a way.
Yes I did the food shopping today (which felt like an end-of-era shop because I know I won't be able to afford much over the next few weeks, so I really tried to stock up), and that's what's left me feeling a bit skint.
I'm exactly the same- I thought February would be brighter than January but actually looking back, in January as I was in the height of selling a lot of my things, I was better off financially then! Now I feel like I just want the end of February to be here.

And thankyou Laska- il check out that, and the debt board that Jonty mentioned.

TalkinPeace · 02/02/2015 21:05
