Banked childcare vouchers-are they safe?

I have banked some childcare vouchers while on maternity leave. Are they safe being left in there for quite a while? I'm wondering where I would stand if say my employer switched to a different scheme, or what if the voucher company went bust?

Also is there a time limit as to how long you can bank vouchers in the voucher account for?

I banked some whilst on maternity leave too. It didn't occur to me that they may not be safe, but then mine were used up within about 6 months of returning to work, so it was only a relatively short period of time.

We've had some sitting in the scheme for years! Now the DCs don't use after school club we have nothing much to spend them on, we use them to pay for PGL trips in the summer.

Thanks both of you. Sounds positive if yours have been safe left in yours for years, Spare time. We are thinking of TTC a third baby and the vouchers would be most useful when I return to work after that.

I have had some in mine for years (and hubby has too). We carried on paying for them when I was on maternity leave in 2004 and 2008. I am still using them up now (2015)! I only have about £1000 left now but childcare is about £100 a month. My eldest starts secondary school in September so I will start paying £50 a month again once I have £500 of vouchers left. We pay a childminder with them now (direct into her bank account).

Can use til named children are 15.

My employer changed schemes n just used up vouchers in old one before using new ones, same when husband moved jobs different scheme but used old vouchers first.
