PAYPAL query.. can someone advise me quite quickly please....

... I have hundreds of squids of someone elses money sitting in my Paypal account, it's a eCheque that's just cleared, and I want to pay it to them quickly (before DH or I with our Ebay addictions start spending money that will draw on it..!) But for similar reasons, I would prefer not to pay it over to our bank account.

So I clicked 'withdraw' and then 'add another bank account' so as to put my friend's bank details in (it's for a boat (!) sold on Ebay on our Ebay account.) But what comes up is a blank form for me to add new details, except that it is clearly assuming it to be another of MY accounts because it is not allowing me the option of changing the surname.. it's our surname in there and you can't alter it.

So if I put my friends bank details in, but keep my name on the form, that is going to be a problem isn't it? Or is it?

I know I could just pay it into mine.. but it takes 7 days plus as it is.. (darn Paypal being a US based thingy) and I really would rather this money did not get sucked into my overdraft anyway.. even though I would still attempt to transfer it to said friends immediately. Just seems 'easier' to pay it straight from Paypal to them. Can I do this? There is no mention of this on the Paypal Q and As. Can't be that uncommon surely...

Please can someone advise. I had being in possession of someone else's money.

have no idea, you can try the ebay paypal q & a boards if you have no luck here.

hoolagirl · 05/10/2006 10:54

Does your friend have a paypal account?
If so, you could transfer the money there.

charliebat · 05/10/2006 10:57

With the wrong name it WILL NOT work. If you go half way thru the transaction its says very clearly that unless everythinge exactly the same as it is on your bank billing address it wont work.
It will cost them if you paypal it to them...another lot of fees. Just withdraw it to yours. and whip it out quick.

No, friend doesn't have Paypal account which is why they used ours to sell boat.

Thanks Charliebat I will do that then.

Oh BLOODY hell. Bloody Paypal. So now it won't let me transfer more than $750.00 worth of currency.. and I need to transfer £605.00! It said I can't do that unless I am verified. I thought I was.. I thought I did that some time last year when it was giving me some other bollocks over red tape.. but nevertheless I clicked on link for an automated phone call from Paypal.. which came immediately.. I entered the PIN into the phone which has appeared on the Paypal screen.. and it said I was verified.

But it still says I can't pay that much over into my account. It's not my money..!! I need to pay it across!!

The only thing I haven't now done on the 'verifying' rigmarole is to enter business info. I'm not a business.. so I can't.

Help anyone?? Sorry!

Oh arse. Dont know what to suggest, but i think they charge you for being a buisness customer...maybe ask on the ebay forums?

CreepyJess · 05/10/2006 11:30

Thanks Charlie. It's ok.. have done it. I just clicked 'individual' to imply I was not a business and left the unapplicable stuff blank.. it then still accepted it and told me I was verified. Phew.
