Wedding venue dresser won't return deposit.

We got married over two months ago and the dresser has not returned the deposit. She ignores my messages, said she has sent it and fobs me off saying she will send a screenshot etc but then doesn't send anything and ignores me. We paid her £1450 for everything she did and granted the deposit is only a small amount but I need the money back.

What else can I do?!

Is she connected to the wedding venue? Can you complain to them?

She is independent self employed. She's talking about her holiday next week all over facebook so it can't be a money issue- I think she's just trying to get away with it. I can only find one other review that says she never replies and they had to hassle her for their deposit back. Sad

Are you sure it was a returnable deposit? Rather than part payment in advance being called a deposit?

I work for a company that provide event services we expect payment in advance but on very large jobs that may be split into a deposit invoice well in advance and a final invoice on day of event or just after if fuel costs are to be included.

No, it was returnable. She has told me she will refund it several times and not done it. She then told me she had sent it and would send me a screenshot. Asked so many times and she just obviously lies to me or ignores me.

Do you have her address?

Send a request in writing recorded delivery.
If no payment then send a final demand in writing recorded delivery.
If she still doesn't pay go to small claims court.

Judge Rinder!!

Okay thank you very much. I've sent her an email to say I'll seek legal action if not paid in 7 days.
