Dh is out of work, I currently work part time. We have had confirmation that we will receive tax credits. Will we receive a card to say we are exempt from prescription charges? Dh is also claiming jsa.

Will you be getting working tax credit and child tax credit? We didn't have exemption cards till we got both credits and never while dh was job seeking.

We've received ours already. I'd ring the tax credit office on Monday and ask. I think the cut off income threshold for the exemption cards is £15100. They use last year's income but if your income this year is much lower you can let them know and they will issue the cards now for you. (That's what we did).

Yes, most people in receipt of tax credits still won't be exempt from prescription charges.

I'm not sure what the cut off is, but we were only eligible briefly whilst neither of us was working.

Yes getting both child and working tax credit. We asked them to base it on our current income. Income is below £15,100.

Ours took a couple of months to come through when we first qualified. We had no idea we would be getting them so never questioned why it took so long

Is it as low as 15100? I thought it was higher?
