Anyone successfully claimed back PPI from car dealership? - pre 2004

Hello...has anyone successfully been able to claim back PPI from a car dealership? We bought our car in 2000 and were advised to take out PPI on the finance. I think before 2004 dealerships were unregulated so have been advised they are unlikely to consider a claim. Just interested in others experience? Any successful claims out there? Thanks!

Are you sure that the loan was actually from the dealership itself? It's far more likely to have been a separate finance company, with the dealership earning commission on all the finance packages sold. Check the loan paperwork carefully for the name of the lender. That's the company you pursue.
