My bank account has vanished.

Went to check online banking this morning and my current account has vanished. Emailed the bank and will apparently get a reply in 5 days.

Just checked again and it's still not back. Can I use my card? Will it get eaten by the cash machine?

I can't see how much is in my account, I can't get to my pitiful savings as I usually transfer from savings to current.

What do i do? I'm working until 7pm so can't go into the bank until tomorrow.

Have you tried phoning the complaints line? Or googling to see whether this is a network issue, and it's not just your account that's affected?

Can you check via an ATM how much you have in the account, or via the bank's telephone banking service?

It's probably just a glitch in their online banking.

Your account and money will still be there.

I've heard of this happening when they suspect the account of being used for money laundering. Have you had any large cash deposits or anything?

I'd go in to branch tomorrow if you can manage today without cash, waiting for an email reply won't be much use.

I have seen mine disappear then appear again afterwards, tends to happen after they have been upgrading the systems. Don't panic your account will still be there as it will just be an online issue. Just use an ATM to check your balance.

My friend works there so he's had a look. I couldn't phone at work as my lunch break isn't long enough!

They sent a letter which was sent back to them so they thought my address had changed. Why this warranted closing down access to my account is beyond me but it should be back up and running by tomorrow!

I posted here in case it was a mass glitch. No point running up a huge bill if it's a big error and I'm not the only one affected!
