Reduced tax credit payments

Over the last couple of months our WTC weekly payments have reduced twice and I'm finding it impossible to find out why.

We were receiving £85 pw cut to £65 and now £45 pw.

There have been no changes and no communication relating to this. I have repeatedly called the helpline, gone through all the hoops only to be told they're too busy and be cut off, it's so frustrating.

I appreciate that £40 pw less isn't a huge sum of money but £40 is more than 10% of our income.

TIA for any help or advice.

Have you renewed? The last couple of months covers the end of one tax year and the start of the next, so is it to do with the new year? Have you run your details through the calculator to see what you should be getting?

Thanks Tallulah,

Not received any paperwork to renew, should we have?

Online calculators show £70-85 pw.

First payment in April was 85, then a couple at 65 and last three or four have been 45.

So worried.

Look I your award notice as it gives what your payments will be from April. If you have not renewed or ring them the payment info will all be on there x

Hello,

Did you get this resolved? I too have this issue, although we have also earnt ten thousand pounds less 2013-14 so no idea why ours have halfed?

passmethewineplease · 11/06/2014 23:33

Apparently tax credits are beginning to use "real time information" to automatically renew or finalize.

It's the first I had heard if it. Not quite sure what it all means tbh.

3rdtimelucky73 · 16/06/2014 13:30

No. I haven't got this resolved.

I have dug out all the paperwork. The last letter (Oct 2013) I have states we will receive £90.12 from April 2014 when I'm actually receiving half of that.

I have tried endlessly calling the helpline but I still go through all the hoops before being told they're busy and getting cut off.

Any suggestions? There have been no changes in income at all.

Have a look at your payments, if you have recieved any extra payments so 2 in a week for example then this can reduce them but I wouldn't have thought that it would have that much of an effect this early in the tax year. If they are using real time information to update claims then someone at your or your partners employer could have made. Balls up of the payroll submission, I'm afraid you're going to have to phone them!
