Erudio Student Loans Continued

Started a new thread following mrsbug's request.

I got an email from Erudio today telling me that an issue I raised with them on 27 March that was then completely ignored even though they asked for confirmation of my details to process the initial email. I gave them the details they requested and seven days later I still hadn't heard anything. So I wrote them a rather threatening complaint telling them if they didn't respond within 7 days I would report them to the relevant financial services. That was on 3 April and today they've told me that my complaint has been forwarded to their Customer Resolutions Team.

I wonder what they do?

Huge thanks to both of you. I am very grateful.

My mp has massive issues about disability and disability benefits and has given wrong information regarding that to me before e.g. When my benefit was stopped because I was deemed fit for work he refused to help me appeal on the grounds that I only those who are not genuine get their money stopped. I won't derail the thread by going into further details but the point is he isn't reliable about disability issues.

I don't know how much use he will be in this case with Erudio but I know others have contacted him and my case has been added to them and isn't specifically disability related which he is apparently good at sorting.

@wildeff1998 My doctor would give me a letter saying I will never work, she has before. That, unfortunately, is how bad my illness is.

However, it has never been good enough for the government (see last post) so I doubt it would for Erudio either.

Thank you all for the information here. I, too, am in the same situation. Feel really betrayed by the British Government and democracy in general. We must all stick together on this because divided, we'll be picked off one by one it seems.

Best of luck to all and as well as petioning the PM, I signed the NUS petion, too.

theloanranger · 04/05/2014 17:17

PS Perhaps we should get the NUS more involved in this?

erudioed · 04/05/2014 17:46

good luck with the NUS. Seemed like a waste of space when i tried but i guess more contacts couldnt hurt. If they had any influence, such as from a united front involving all students, things wouldnt be like they are now.

theloanranger · 04/05/2014 18:10

Well, exactly, because current students are going to face the same situation in future. Willets, the university minister, said the selling-off was a practice that would be repeated. Will try to petition NUS, too.

Does anyone know how to get a copy of the original loan agreements signed with the SLC? I've mislaid mine over the years but feel it is now important to obtain them.

willdef1998 · 04/05/2014 20:07

if you want a copy of your loan agreement, you can just ask either the slc or erudio as they now hold the loans, for subject access request, cost £10 and will show everything relating to your account from the beginning. they will then have 40 days to comply.

theloanranger · 05/05/2014 09:07

Thank you all very much! I'll let you know how I get on with my deferment and any reactions from letters peticions, etc.

theloanranger · 05/05/2014 09:09

Sorry, that is "petitions"

Has anyone received a copy of their credit agreements?

Sarebear78 · 06/05/2014 11:33

@louisefindlay No I haven't received my credit agreement copies and pretty sure that the 12 working days thing ends today. Are you still waiting too?

IchibodT · 06/05/2014 13:15

I wouldn't hold your breath for credit agreements it has been well over a month since I requested mine. Am going on holiday tomorrow so will chase up when I return.

mandakl · 06/05/2014 14:07

Even SLC often used to take many months to dig agreements up, so Erudio are not going to be quicker.

MamaMimi · 06/05/2014 14:11

Someone at Erudio told me they have to request to get agreements from SLC and then wait for SLC to pass them on to Erudio!

Ok so that link didnt work. Sorry folks trying to do this on my phone!

erudioed · 06/05/2014 16:18

thats is an interesting article. One bit that i found stood out was this:

When I asked Erudio why it’s doing this, it told me it’s because in order to get information from credit reference agencies it has to give it to them, and it wants this info so it can "treat each borrower as an individual in a way the SLC never did".

Like its doing us a favour right? They speak with two tongues. I thought it was all supposed to be in plain english. And i am not a borrower to them, they purchased my loan as a debt, not as the entity loaning me the money.

mandakl · 06/05/2014 16:39

It really wants that info to work out who better to target for the ultra aggressive debt collection that is bound to follow. ;)

halfpricedebt · 06/05/2014 19:35

I had a great one the other day:

Erudio sent me an email in response to one that was a month old saying they would respond within 21 days - so that makes it nearer two months to respond to an email. The second was because their call centre received my letter about deferment which included a letter from my employer stating my annual salary as I haven't worked there long enough to provide three payslips - which they told me to do - and they told me they needed whatever payslips I had and another letter from my employer. I pointed out to them that an official letter from my employer stating my annual salary should be sufficient in this case but they insisted.

So I emailed their deferment address with copies of my payslips and yet another letter. Eventually I received another email telling me they will respond within 21 days.

My deferment period is now up as of today and they haven't notified me of anything that I haven't chased them for.

Good job I cancelled that direct debit.

So what else can your employer tell them?! Other than, please read the letter you were sent previously!

My cancelled DD was put in place again. Has anyone else had this happen?

mandakl · 06/05/2014 21:11

Complain to your bank. They shouldn't allow the DD to be reinstated if you cancelled it.
