Looking for home insurance, which is proving a struggle as I'm a CM and a lot of companies don't appear to do business cover.

Our current deal appears to cover us for £125,000 contents, I've just had a quote off hsbc, but apparently their normal amount is 50,000. Do we need the 125,000????? We've just sat down and tried to calculate what it would cost if all our stuff burnt to the ground but it hurts my head lol...

Any good company recommendations too?

You may be surprised . We had to value our stuff to transport back to UK and it came to over 60k bearing in mind it is based upon replacement values, excluding white goods, curtains, carpets etc. Things like clothes and shoes (dh's work suits and shirts), sports goods, kids toys, bikes, electricals, furniture etc soon add up. We use CIS but have been not so pleased with their efficiency recently.
