Have mortgage arrears in a real mess, if we pay off can I change lender?

Hi, please help. DH adn I have got ourselves into a mess, our discount period comes to and end this month, in the past we've just renegotiated it with the mortgage company. However we are in arrears for two months payment and I've spoken to them today and they won't renegotiate so we will go onto the standard rate next month, which means an extra £400 - which we haven't got. They won't put us onto another discounted mortgage untill we pay off the arrears and have six clear months paid. We are trying to borrow some money to pay back the arrears, but if we do this is there any chance another mortgage company will touch us. Even if they do would we get a decent rate?

i feel totally sick, we didn't expect this - it's my fault as I've been leaving the finances to DH, who just doesn't really understand it all. I knew we were in arrears and should have made it clear to him how serious this was, but didn't so I'm to blame. We can't move to a smaller house - this one is as small as it gets. Help.

Sorry, but I don't know the answer to this. If you can pay back the arrears then your mortgage company might be more likely to renegotiate with you. Someone will know I'm sure, so am bumping for you.
