Hello, DH is off work with depression and stress.
We are 2 months behind with our mortgage but my DF is lending us the money to clear the arrears and he has suggested when this is done to call the bank and ask them can we have reduced payments for the next few months due to DH being on sick, we do have mortgage protection but it doesnt cover depression/stress.
Also DH has a bank loan again with protection but it doesnt cover for depression/stress.
Dont know how long DH will be off work, would think its going to be a couple of months as there is a lot going on, those if you who have read my posts on relationships will know, i dont want to get into it here as its too long.
Please can anyone give me some advice, are banks ok at doing this reduced mortgage for situations like this?
I am having to take charge of everything now as DH isnt coping well at all and i know zero about things like this.

Thanks

If you have a flexible mortgate you can take a payment holiday for a few months - depending on how much credit/equity you have. You can also lower your payments OR extend the term of your mortgage to reduce the payments.

my dh is also off work with depression and has been for 7 months. we got ourselves in alot of debt and are struggling to make payments. i would reccomend you contact the consumer credit counselling service (CCCS) for advice. their advice is free and they can liase with banks etc for you, they tend to have more clout than doing it yourself. they have helped us. they have a website which is www.cccs.co.uk, i think. all contact details are on there. they work till 8 at night aswell i think.
