How do I go about complaining about my Endowments?

I've been advised I should complain to Norwich Union re two endowment policies we have with them that we feel were mis-sold to us. Apparently, I have to do this by Sept 1st. What do I do, do I just write a letter to Norwich Union saying I think we were badly advised? Or am I supposed to go through some other official channel. Anyone with any experience of this?

yes write to the norwich union, they will send you some (long) forms. have you had a letter with a red warning?

Yes, although it was a couple of years ago and things are looking a bit better now but still way off paying the amount we took it out for. I don't know whether to just wait it out. if you complain, does that mean you have to sell the policy if you get compensation?

Wilbur, the first thing I must say to you is do not use one of the endowment claims companies you see advertising on the TV. They will take some (up to 25%) of your compensation, and they will not do anything you can't do yourself.

Next, go to the which website - they have templates on there that you can use to complain.

here is the front page of their "endowment action" campaign site.

I work for a company who deals with endowment complaints on behalf of many insurance companies, and without exception, we find that these "third party" companies add nothing to the process, but slow it down, and are generally crap. A lot of them are chancers who have seen a gap in the market, and are using the fact that there is no regulation to make a quick buck.

I can't write much now, and will be offline until later this afternoon, but will come back here, so if you have any questions, I will try and answer them for you.

That's brilliant emsiewill, thanks you! I will check out the Which site and see if I have any Qs.

Wilbur, was wondering whether you had complained yet, and how you are getting on?
