I live in a tiny one before flat. Ive got 2 little boys 4 and 6 months
I'm on the council list but am looking at at least a 8 year wait
Been looking into private renting but 2 beds round here are at least 1000 I just dont have that amount of money
Sick to death of sleeping on some shifty sofa bed which kills my back!

That's a tough situation to be in.

To address the bed situation.... have you got room to put a daybed thing in. Or a single bed and make it into a sofa for the day with lots of cosy cushions?

Do you have to stay living in the area you're in currently, could you move somewhere cheaper? Have you looked into how much housing benefit you're eligible for if you were to rent privately? Is your current home private / council, as if its council could you apply for a homeswap - due to the bedroom tax there's more people looking to downsize!

Dont really want to move out the area, work, family oschool etc and all the surrounding areas pretty much the same!
Its funny u said homeswapper I am on there no luck yet, and me and my neighbour applied to swap as hes on hes own in a 2 bed, the council said hes was too small!! In what world does that make sense?

why not get back to the council, explain you have a neighbour looking to swap and ask why the obvious solution has not been implemented?
