I need to track where my money goes because I've been crap. Does anyone have a good app to recommend or a spreadsheet template or something, please?

Don't know where to start.

I use an old application called Microsoft Money. Free to download if you Google 'Microsoft Money Deluxe Sunset Edition'. Once you've set up all your accounts you can track all your transactions and assign them a category. Knowing where the money goes enables you to set realistic budgets.

MSE budget planner great as a starting point. Other than that I use an app for day to day spends

There one in the apps store it's a purse It's called spending

I use that one

The pocket money app is great. V simple and keeps us on track. You can set it so recurring transactions show up for as far into the future as you like. It means at any point I can see how much money we'll have at any point in the month. No guessing, no forgetting about a direct debit etc.

Several of us use YNAB - there's a free 34 day trial and then the software can be bought for £30. We have a thread [[http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/legal_money_matters/1833077-Does-anyone-use-YNAB-You-Need-A-Budget-and-fancy-a-support-chat-thread here]

I use an app called account tracker on iPhone - took a while to set up but is really easy after that and being on my phone I update it every time I spend anything.

Thank you very much - I'll have a look at all of those and get started. Smile
