Does anyone have home insurance with esure? Are they any good? I have got a remarkably cheap quote with them for buildings and contents insurance cover and I'm feeling pleased but suspicious!

presumably because they only take on low risk and or have exclusions and higher excesses?

KeepingQuiet · 21/07/2006 15:16

We were insured with them as it was cheap
We claimed and they paid out without any problem (we were burgled)

We're not with them now because we got a cheaper deal elsewhere

duckcentral · 21/07/2006 15:29

Zippi - you would think so but don't seem to have exclusions or abnormal excesses and seem unphased by our quite high rebuilding cost so I was really surprised.

Keepingquite - reassuring to know there weren't problems when you did need to claim. If you've found a cheaper deal, would it be possible to know who you are with now? Don't worry if you would rather not disclose it.

We are now with Norwich Union but I think it's a policy you can only get through a broker - it's called Tapestry

zippitippitoes · 21/07/2006 15:41

keeping quiet did you change because they went up once you were burgled?

KeepingQuiet · 21/07/2006 15:47

It went up but not a great deal
They give you a 10% disc if you don't claim
Norwich U was maybe 20 quid cheaper but gives us more cover

zippitippitoes · 21/07/2006 15:50

I just looked up the tapestry one..don't think I would come into their category of customer..

"it is for high net worth individuals who require valuations of their property to prevent them being under insured"
quote"one of our customers was under insured by 1.4 million without being aware of it before he came tpo us"!

KeepingQuiet · 21/07/2006 15:53

I don't either but my broker has magic ways so we are covered

zippitippitoes · 21/07/2006 15:54

shame keeping quiet i thought you might be a footballers wife

We couldn't get e-sure insurance even if we wanted to. They will not insure singers/actors or other performers (dh is a singer although we do put him down as a teacher on stuff like that)

SenoraPostrophe · 21/07/2006 22:01

huh? what's so risky about singers and actors?

julienetmum · 23/07/2006 22:00

Don't know but Equity and the MU have raised the issue with them. Apparently jobbing actors and singers all have lots of famous people come to visit them/drive in their cars who will sue if they break a fingernail!!!!!

Frenchie1972 · 19/03/2019 15:57

really? that's why they don;t want to insure you? wow that's the most unusual insurance fact i have learned...ever! lol. Not cool for you though- do you have to get special insurance then?

ohhh just seen how old this post is - probably will never know
