Life assurance with critical illness cover

We're just in the process of TRYING to change our life assurance provider and also add the basic critical illness cover (the type that will pay out once, only for illnesses/conditions on the list).
We started the process with the new provider in early August with a lengthy phone interview each to discuss our medical history, then reviewed our replies on paper, corrected their mistakes regarding our names and My DOB, sent it back. Since then they have been sooooo slow in asking us a few extra things they want to know, one item per letter. Neither of us have anything serious in our medical history (thankfully) & most of our minor issues have been resolved.

So I just wanted to do a quick straw poll, if you've applied for life insurance /critical illness cover, roughly how long did it take between your application & the policy actually starting? Is two months a long time? I can't remember it being this much of a pain the first time round!
Thanks Smile

I got mine with local Bank at same time as mortgage...was done there and then and started day mortgage was drawn down.

Thanks Mum2fergus, that sounds much more like it! If they don't get it sorted now we've returned the most recent form, I think we'll just get critical illness cover from our current provider, even if it does cost a bit more!

I did a new policy for myself and DH a fortnight ago to start on the 1st Oct online, we received the documents to sign in a matter of days. It was with Legal and General
