I would like to open an account for dc, one which they can put in birthday money etc. & take out when they like. But I am having problems, my bank won't touch them as they have a different surname to mine & no passport, the post office ones start from age 11 & have to put £500 in. Can anyone help please!

Just open a savings ac in your name - I did this for DS and have his child benefit paid to it along with any money gifts he receives...will transfer it to him when he is old enough to be sensible with it (so maybe never lol)...

Use their full birth certificates (the one that shows parent's names) as their ID and take your identification with you.
