Feeling like I have been a bit of an ostrich... Made a late career change to teaching. In the pension scheme from day one. If all goes well, I should accrue 12 years service before retirement. But unless I quickly ascend the greasy pole of leadership, this translates to diddly squat in pension terms
. I have a couple of pensions from previous jobs, one of which is quite substantial, but also quite insecure (the company is in difficulties). I merrily thought I could just transfer these old pensions to the teachers scheme, but have just found out I should have done that within a year of joining - ie I am 3 years too late. Can anyone tell me what my options are?
