Hi, a friend at work is having a Tax Credit Nightmare. Without going into huge details, does anyone know of a phone number for a Finance Department for them - i.e. a department that might actually know that she HASN'T cashed a cheque they sent her???

thanks!

have had some dealings with tax credits when I was doing welfare rights work, and the only numbers anyone can get hold of are the helpline number and another one which is for complaints I think

sorry unhelpful because I dont actually know the complaints number - but it is wishful thinking that you can actually talk to someone who has a clue at tax credits office in my experience

my advice - make notes of every phone call, back up everything in writing and keep copies, keep all paperwork they send and read if very carefully

Only suggestion is to go through the MPs office.Apparently tehy have a phone line to someone who has the power to help but doesn't always do so! (as said by local MP himselfGrin)

ring inland revenue direct? rather than helpline, ask for someone to do with tax credit policy?? might not be any help but cld be worth a try. cAB deal with tax credits quite a bit if she can't find any other ehlp.
