I had the money in my account within two weeks of posting off my renewal. Very simple claim though, no childcare or disabilities.

carrielou2007 · 05/07/2013 13:45

Usually quick if I ring with any changes about two weeks? Busiest time if year now with renewals, have your payments stopped? Why are you not receiving it with two disabled children?

carrielou2007 · 05/07/2013 13:47

Gah posted too soon, it it your renewal then? Payments shouldn't change that much (look at last years should give payment amount and schedule for this year??)

CherryMonster · 05/07/2013 14:01

its a new claim as my partner has moved in. 2 lots of disability element, and last payment was on monday. amounts shouldnt change according to online calculator and the sums that the lady did during our phone call, but was wondering how long i will be without money for.

you will continue to get your normal payments, so monday.

MotherOfNations · 05/07/2013 14:08

We waited 7 weeks for a new claim and my friend waited 16 wks.

lissieloo · 05/07/2013 14:11

Sorry, so you were claiming before your p moved in? So, it'll be an updated claim, yes?

CherryMonster · 05/07/2013 14:20

yes i was claiming as a single parent, and have now put in a joint claim. there is no payment scheduled for monday according to the lady i spoke to earlier, nor has my paperwork been logged as being received despite being sent a week ago.

OP posts:
lissieloo · 05/07/2013 14:21

so they stopped your usual payment?

CherryMonster · 05/07/2013 14:26

yes as my old claim is closed.

lissieloo · 05/07/2013 14:27

then it could be weeks. Ask them to make a discretionary payment.

CherryMonster · 05/07/2013 14:29

they said approx 3 weeks, but not sure if i can make what i have stretch that long. i did ask if there was a way they could continue paying but they said no.

lissieloo · 05/07/2013 14:38

Oh dear, sorry. I'm sure you'll get it sorted though Smile

CherryMonster · 05/07/2013 14:41

well yes i know it will be sorted eventually, but i dont know how long they expect me to survive with no money.

Sadly, I think there are a lot in the same boat. I presume there are other benefits you are receiving to help tide you over? Can you borrow from family?

MotherOfNations · 05/07/2013 15:02

You need to phone and keep pestering them. They lied to us saying that they'd sent forms out asking for extra details to explain the delay in dealing with our case and then said our application had been lost in the system.

Luckily our landlords were were sympathetic and didn't mind waiting a few weeks for our rent payment so that helped a lot.

CherryMonster · 05/07/2013 15:33

i have a little to last, and am getting carers allowance every saturday and child benefit every tuesday. landlord is council so not sure how sympathetic they will be.

MotherOfNations · 05/07/2013 15:44

My landlord is housing association and they were fine with it. I think if you go and explain the situation you will be surprised at how understanding they are.

carrielou2007 · 05/07/2013 16:06

Goodness, didn't know they would stop payments then leave you with nothing Shock

CherryMonster · 05/07/2013 16:20

neither did i.

CherryMonster · 06/07/2013 22:20
