Does anyone have a John Lewis credit card?

... and if so, what is your credit limit? I can't seem to find any information on what the card's average CL is other than generic "subject to status" statements. One of the main reasons I want a JL card is that I'm looking at buying some large appliances/pieces of furniture and want to be able to get some vouchers/points in return - but it seems pointless if my credit limit will be under £2k! Can anyone give me a ball park figure?

(I have excellent credit history and large CL on other cards so see no reason why I would be refused.)

We applied jointly and our credit limit was a tenth of our joint salary at the time, which I think is quite common for credit cards.

Thank you!

I have a JL cc and the limit is 3k.

We use it for everything and get loads of vouchers that we use for gifts.

Mine is £2k and I don't earn a great deal. They'll tell you when you apply.

mine's the same as LaChaise, use it for food shop and 'joint' things including the vet (dog on lifetime meds)- get loads back in vouchers

I have big mistake. It's a maestro card run by HSBC & they won't honour the law to refund faulty goods. I've been fighting for 9 months nowHmm

JoyMachine · 16/06/2013 21:01

I have one, I use it for everything (even gas/electricity bills) and pay it off in full each month... I love getting the JL vouchers! Shame the ocado points thing is now halved Sad
My CL is £6,300... weird amount (and definitely not 10% of my salary!) It was originally £3k I think, they put it up, but gave me option to decline.

I have, it's a MasterCard. I earn 20k and my credit limit is 2k.

Thanks for the input, everyone - much appreciated!

My limit is huge - best part of £10k I think. From memory when I first applied they gave me quite a small limit but as JoyMachine said, I pay it off every month and use it for everything. So when I rang to ask to increase the limit when we were furnishing our current house, they had no problem increasing it to whatever I wanted. Although that may not help if you need to but everything straight away.

Quite aside from credit limits, I have to say I've always found their customer service to be brilliant - between that and the cashback (well, JL vouchers but it's as good as cashback), I'd highly recommend it as a credit card.

I have one and the credit limit is £5K (had it just over a year now). Not sure where the £5K amount came from as it isn't 10% of our income (joint card).

CarolBornAMan · 18/06/2013 18:16

my limit is £12K - again not 10% but I increased it over the last 3 years
