hi, i will admit this is my fault. i got my dates muddled (due to teething baby letting me sleep 3-4 hours per night) and i went to sign on on the wrong day. i explained when i went and they were fine just carried on as normal. Two days later i get a letter saying they are stopping payments. i called the helpline and i can appeal but i have to go into the jobcenter and do it in writing.

i have been sat in tears cursing myself as now i have no money for shopping so its beans and chips for 3 days as thats all we have in the house.
has anyone appealed and managed to get the money back? or do i need to open a new claim? the helpline was not overly helpful

Go to the office when open and do two things.
Ask for a hardship form JSA 10 fill it in there and then ensuring you explain thoroughly on the last 2 questions exactly how your sanction will impact, ie no food, heating etc.
Fill in a JSA 4 RR too so your benefit can be reinstated after your 4 week sanction-disallowance.
Hardship will be awarded and you should only lose 20 percent of your JSA during the period your benefit has been stopped.
Try not to forget again as the next time it's a lot longer sanction-disallowance and you will have to do the above again.

But you would have been given a date and time to come in. Did you lose the card/book/letter?

My ds got his signing on day wrong and went the next day, because they wrote it wrong on his appointment card,he has been sanctioned for a month.
He is appealing but not holding out much hope really.

If he still has the card he will win his appeal. In our place we would never have sanctioned someone under those circs, your DH would have got an apology and we would have ensured he got his payment on time as it was our fault Confused

i got given a time and date but not written down. like i said i know its my fault for not writing it down correctly just pissed off that after 10 years of working i cant feed my family now

He still has his card but when he went in they amended it. They made him go to another jobcentre to explain which cost him bus fares and he has aspergers so was really confused by the whole thing.I was expecting this to happen when he told me about the mix up so I'm not surprised.
