Will we be able to get a mortgage (fixed term contract and pregnancy)

DP and I are saving for a deposit for a house - we reckon we will have about a 15% deposit by the end of this year, and a 20% deposit if we wait until April 2014. We would be looking to borrow about 2-2.5x our combined salaries.

The problem is, that we are getting married this year and then hoping to try for a baby in autumn. On top of that, I am currently on a fixed term contract that finishes in March 2015. Will we have any chance of getting a mortgage?

Application forms don't ask if you're pregnant and unless you are actually on or about to go on mat leave then there's no need to mention it. Lots of lenders lend to people on fixed term contracts although some require it to have been renewed at least once first. I recommend you use a financial adviser.

Second using a financial advisor, but not one in an estate agent. Bradford and bingley ones used to be good and free (yes really) but that was years ago and not sure what they do post financial crisis.

FWIW we have been given 4 different mortgages over the years while dh had a fixed term contract. We have 3 children so I must have been on mat leave for at least one.

Thanks, that is encouraging. I have had my contract renewed once so I guess that will help.
