Freeserve Broadband - How To Get It Cheaper

have just had an "interesting" conversation with freeserve. I have Broadband with them and have done for a couple of years and have been looking at ways to save money as we are skint at the moment. Noticed on their website that they have a "starter" package which looks the same as i currently have (1meg) for £14.99. Looking into it (i pay £17.99 per month) it gave me the option to upgrade to a faster speed for £17.99 or pay more for fancy stuff like internet phone calls.

I rang them and asked why i could not have the £14.99 option as it provides the same as i have now which is perfectly satisfactory and they said that was only for new customers. This made me so mad - they will give new customers a better deal than existing loyal customers. i put this to them and they immediately backed down and said i could have the deal. Shame its not an automatic option but well worth a quick call for all you freeserve punters!!
