Seriously pissed off with Paypal... Can anyone help please????

For some reason, I appear to be unable to make a payment of more than £30 via paypal.

This is a very recent occurance, and I keep being told my limit is £xxx and will be re-set at a certain point each month, this is the second month running this has happened and I have not spent any money by paypal over the last month mainly because of the stupid pathetic £30 limit that has been imposed (and also I don't really use paypal much)......arghhhhhh

I haven't had any disputes, or defaulted on any payments or anything like that. I am at a total loss as to why my paypal account would suddenly freeze at a limit like that...I'm really mad at this.

Anyone have any words of wisdom/experience as to why this could be happening???

I have emailed paypal, but I have a feeling they will take forever to get back to me.

Hiya I had this trouble a few months ago and its once you have used up your "allowance". You will need to go to the Paypal website and it should explain what to do there. I think its about getting verifed? Can't remember exactly what i had to do but i know they sent a number to my bank account which i had to then give back to them. My limit was then lifted.
This is probably making no sense!!

I understand the allowance thing, but isn't the allowance a monthly thing?? Apparantly my monthly allowance is supposed to be reset once a month....

PayPal took money from my account after I refused to refund a buyer who said the item I sold her wasn't as described - it was leather, she said it wasn't.

She then went to PayPal and lodged a dispute. PayPal, without informing me at all, reversed the payment (now ebay is showing the transaction as 'unpaid' and i opened a dispute, as I now have NO item and NO money for it. the buyer continues to try to strongarm a refund from me. but i am NOT breaking ebay's rules by not offering one, she is by not paying for an item).

So I did some digging around. Here, report 'em to the Ombudsman, b/c then they'll have to pay fees for the investigation no matter what it's outcome.

This is cut and paste from a VERY long post, but I'd be happy to post it here, b/c it's all public domain:

So call the following FSA help line on: 0845 606 1234

Website is: www.fsa.gov.uk/consumer/contact/index.html

Explain your issue with Paypal To the FSA. (They seem quite willing to listen). But will basically tell you to do this.

WRITE TO THE FOLLOWING NAME AND ADDRESS REGISTERED WITH AND SUPPLIED BY THE UK FSA.

PHONE: (Also supplied by FSA) 0870 7307 191 (but don’t bother. you will need as much in black and white at this stage for later action as you can gather)

Don't forget to send another email to Watchdog, which reported on PayPal's practices and continues to investigate!

expatinscotland · 05/04/2006 13:13

Don't bother emailing or phoning. They don't respond. Watchdog has thousands of statements from users about that.

Write 'em a letter. REcorded delivery. And keep writing. And writing. And writing.
