Went out for an afternoon treat with dd(has cerebral palsy).
Got a parking ticket in a pay and display car park but i was displaying both parts of dd's blue badge,
so a couple of questions to anyone in the know.......

  1. what are my chances on appealing(nowhere did it say that blue badges were not exempt from charges)
  2. What are the legalities on placing the parking ticket on the car?(i'm sure i read or heard somewhere that it just had to be stuck to the windscreen) this one was placed under my windsreen wipers so they have touched the wipers....
can anyone help me out please......(dh will go M A D )..... THANKS

Bad luck. It's always worth appealing....go for it.

don't think you've got much chance, but I'd appeal with a really grovelling letter, explaining everything.

good luck

i think you have a great chance actually.

what you need to do is ring them up fully armed. you need to go to wherever it is you parked and photograph the signs.

fight it allt he way.

if their signs were not clear WERE NOT CLEAR you are not NOT liable for the costs.

of that i am certain. but i am no lawyer.

ring them up and tell them that your husband ( who is a solititor) is threatening t take legal action and you want to resolve it. tell them he is spitting feathers at their fuckwittedness. you need to speak to the manager and get a result in writing.

I too think you have a great chance but start nicely as you'll probably get away with it, particularly if a coucil owned car park.

BTW ticket under wipers is legal. It has to be attached to the car.

call the council now, and tell them about the blue badge. It might have just been a mistake.

Custy's right, go back and take photos (or write down what it says on the signs). Call the council, or car park operator. If they aren't helpful, go straight to your local paper. The embarrassment will make them act. Picking on a child with cerebal palsy is NOT good publicity. Also think you stand a good chance of appeal.

trouble is blue badges aren't exempt from charges everywhere. You'd have to check in the book that comes when you get issued with a blue badge. I've got one in my car for when I take my mum out and I parked on a yellow line once thinking I was exempt, but I still got a ticket as I parked when no parking was in place.

if you haven't got the book I'll try to find mine for you.....

Also go or the sympathy vote with disabled child - a really sad letter about how the trip out was a big treat, etc or child ..... lay it on thick and appeal to the sympathetic nature of the reader!

You do get the odd decent person in a Council Office!
